Are you a hands-on leader who takes pride in food safety, team development, and maintaining high sanitation standards? We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Sanitation Supervisor to join our team in Chicago and help drive a culture of safety, quality, and accountability in our bakery operations.
Position Summary:
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising sanitation personnel during assigned shifts to ensure the facility meets all sanitation, food safety, and product quality standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with company programs, GFSI standards, and regulatory requirements while supporting a positive and productive team environment.
Schedule: 1st Shift – Start Time 6:00 AM
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct sanitation team activities during assigned shift
- Ensure sanitation standards are maintained to prevent product contamination
- Conduct inspections and initiate corrective actions when necessary
- Support pest control activities as needed
- Maintain sanitation records and reports accurately
- Support GFSI certification efforts and food safety initiatives
- Coach, train, and evaluate sanitation employees
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, company procedures, and safety standards
- Partner with Engineering, Production, Quality, and HR teams to support operations
- Promote safe work practices and support accident prevention initiatives
- Assist in maintaining positive employee relations and labor compliance
- Support Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, and Quality (Food-SLIQ) initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Understanding of sanitation practices, food safety, and product quality standards
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience & Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to obtain the following certifications within designated timeframes:
- General Use Pesticides License
- Food Service Sanitation Certification
- Food Processing Sanitation/Hygiene Certification
- Certified Quality Control Sanitarian Certification
