About This Position

Position Summary

Our team of Registered Behavior Technicians play an important role in carrying out behavior reduction strategies for our clients--children with autism. Our clients range in ages from 18months-18 years old. At our center, you will be supported by BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) who are experts in the field. Our Behavior Technicians arrive each day at the center, which builds unity and allows you to feel part of a team as you work together, rather than doing in-home care. We practice true 1:1 ABA Therapy and you will be assigned at least two clients each day as you rotate through a schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Registered Behavior Technicians

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Possesses basic knowledge of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapy
  • Provides 1:1 ABA therapy to clients in clinic-based environment
  • Accept and incorporate corrective feedback given by supervising BCBA and or Supervisors, ensuring cohesion of services
  • Following and implementing the supervising BCBA’s treatment plan and recommendations in a fun and child-friendly demeanor when working with clients
  • Correctly use software program for client session data recording and timely timesheet management (training provided)
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships through pairing with clients
  • Incorporates and promotes Natural Environment Teaching throughout session
  • Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers
  • Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding
  • Provides regular written and verbal progress updates on treatment goals and maladaptive behaviors
  • Ensures that service member is in a safe and positive environment at all times
  • Creates and implements antecedent strategies to reduce maladaptive behaviors
  • Gives behavior support which includes physical management (training provided upon hire)
  • Proactively learns and develops ABA and other behavior therapy techniques under the direction of the Supervisory RBT’s and BCBA
  • Learns reasoning behind academic lessons to meet the client’s needs
  • Seeks additional training from Supervisor RBT’s and BCBA
  • Becomes positive role model and Mentor to other staff members and students
  • Exercises open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Seeks feedback pertaining to job responsibilities and advancement opportunities
  • Follows the policies and procedures of Perseus Learning Center
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times when working with clients, families, supervisors, and coworkers
  • Assists with training of new hires in ABA Therapy and data collection
  • Daily cleaning duties assigned on a rotation basis
  • Attends and executes professional development, trainings, and staff meetings
  • Attends weekly supervision meetings with supervisor
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications for Registered Behavior Technicians:

  • Current Registered Behavior Technician License (RBT)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Applied Behavior Analysis experience
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (Obtain within 30 days of employment)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or a related field
  • ABA Software Data Collection Experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment for Registered Behavior Technicians

While performing the duties of this position, the employee can expect:

  • To be required to talk or hear regularly
  • To use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls frequently
  • To stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms occasionally

Specific vision abilities required by this position include:

  • Close vision
  • Distance vision
  • Ability to adjust focus

This position involves primarily medium to heavy work that include:

  • Bending
  • Stooping
  • Getting up and down on the floor
  • Frequently lift/carry objects between 25-50 pounds.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
