Description:

X-Ray Associates of New Mexico is seeking a Patient Advocate Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. In this role, you will serve as a key resource for patients by researching billing and insurance questions, resolving account issues, processing payments, and working directly with insurance companies to ensure accurate and timely claim resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with billing inquiries, account research, and payment processing.
  • Process patient payments accurately using payment processing systems.
  • Review insurance claims, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), correspondence, and claim status information.
  • Investigate unpaid and underpaid claims and take appropriate action for resolution.
  • Research and correct claim discrepancies and resubmit claims as needed.
  • Maintain accurate account documentation and collection notes.
  • Handle inbound and outbound patient calls regarding billing and insurance issues.
  • Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain claim status and resolve payment concerns.
  • Assist walk-in patients with billing questions and payment needs.
  • Process and manage claim-related correspondence, return mail, bankruptcy notices, death certificates, and other account-related documentation.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Requirements:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in:
  • Medical Accounts Receivable, OR
  • Medical Insurance Claims Processing.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed when assisting upset or frustrated patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn multiple software applications.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a healthcare billing environment.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance plans, claim processing, and reimbursement procedures.
  • Familiarity with healthcare billing software and electronic claim systems.
