Job Description

Job Title: Transportation Supervisor - Part Time

Reports To: Transportation Manager

Department: Operations

FLSA: Exempt

SUMMARY: Assists with the MCCA’s Transportation needs to ensure timely delivery of services to MCCA events and customers, the safety of the Authority’s staff, guests, visitors, and facilities. Works with Transportation Manager and Assistant Managers to determine transportation and staffing needs of each individual event. Provides supervision and guidance to Transportation supervisors and agents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Authority’s Assistant Transportation Managers may designate various other activities. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Operations:

· Oversee MCCA and contracted staff running Seaport Shuttle and ferry services

· Act as the liaison between the MCCA and the shuttle and ferry riders.

· As directed will oversee and manage Transportation Agents out on the roadway to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic.

· As directed by the Assistant Transportation Manager, arranges for transportation staff to bring Authority vehicles for servicing. Coordinate with Transportation staff on status vehicle status and return to fleet.

· Assists with staffing plans and scheduling and ensure appropriate staffing levels for events.

· As directed by the Transportation manager, provides daily, weekly oversight of contracted services.

· Assist in responding to emergency calls for service, such as demonstrations, protests, disorderly persons, fires, and storms, medical and other emergencies requiring action by the Transportation Department.

· Reviews traffic flow relative to public safety. Reports irregularities and hazards to appropriate personnel.

· Represent the Authority at Transportation and related meetings of professional organizations in order to develop professional networks in the Transportation Field.

· Attend meetings and interact with both internal and external Transportation Department clients.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Some work experience which shall have involved assisting the public and monitoring traffic flow, transportation operation, or a combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must have the ability to handle stressful situations with passengers, taxi operators, limousine operators, and shuttle drivers.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time. Ability to work in an outside environment, which will include working in inclement weather.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to drive vehicles up to 14 passengers. Driving responsibilities may include but are not limited to: shuttling attendees from parking lots to the BCEC, commuter shuttles from train stations to businesses in the South Boston Waterfront, charter services for events.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is an on-call position. The schedule for this position fluctuates based upon the needs of a particular event or project, which would require the ability to work a flexible schedule including late nights, early mornings, long days, weekends and holidays, must commit to working a minimum of 20 hours per month.

DRESS CODE: In order to project a professional image, and the level of dignity and decorum that is required when serving the public, appropriate dress and good grooming are expected of all employees.
