Senior People Business Partner

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior People Business Partner based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to shape people strategy within a high-growth technology and financial services environment.
You will act as a trusted advisor to managers and leaders, helping them navigate complex people decisions with confidence.
The position combines strategic coaching with hands-on ownership of performance management, employee relations, and talent development.
You will use engagement, attrition, and employee feedback data to identify trends and turn insights into meaningful action.
You will also support organizational change, talent planning, promotions, and career development across your client groups.
Working closely with Talent, People Operations, and Compensation, you will help create a consistent and effective employee experience.
This is an influential individual contributor role for an experienced HR professional who thrives in ambiguity, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Accountabilities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and hands-on People Business Partner to managers and leaders, providing practical guidance on people challenges and helping them make sound decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Lead and support performance management activities, including performance conversations, improvement plans, performance calibration, and promotion readiness reviews.
  • Own employee relations casework for assigned client groups, supporting conflict resolution and investigations while escalating complex or sensitive matters when appropriate.
  • Analyze engagement survey results, exit interview feedback, attrition trends, and other people data to identify themes and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Help managers strengthen onboarding, feedback, career development, and talent management practices across their teams.
  • Support organizational changes such as reorganizations and headcount adjustments by assessing people implications, advising leaders, and developing effective communication approaches.
  • Partner with Talent, People Operations, Compensation, and other People functions to connect business leaders with the appropriate resources and expertise.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business objectives, organizational structure, workforce needs, and talent priorities of the teams you support.
  • Contribute to broader people initiatives and organizational effectiveness efforts that strengthen leadership capabilities, employee engagement, and business performance.
Requirements
  • 5–8 years of experience delivering People Business Partner, HR Business Partner, or generalist HR support, ideally within a fast-growing technology, SaaS, or financial services organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish trust, influence managers, and effectively advise mid-level and senior leaders on people-related decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of performance management, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, talent development, and core HR practices.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound judgments while supporting multiple business needs.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret engagement, attrition, exit interview, and other workforce data and turn findings into practical action plans.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms; familiarity with multiple HR systems is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain HR concepts clearly and empathetically to employees and leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, resilience, and the ability to remain effective in rapidly changing and ambiguous environments.
  • A forward-looking, growth-oriented mindset with the flexibility to adapt to evolving organizational priorities.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary, with the U.S. range provided for this role at $102,000–$158,000 USD, plus equity and additional benefits; compensation varies based on experience, skills, location, and applicable local requirements.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families.
  • Life insurance and disability coverage.
  • Mental wellness support and coverage.
  • Fertility and growing-family support.
  • Flexible time off in addition to company-paid holidays.
  • Paid family leave, medical leave, and bereavement leave.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Healthcare FSA and commuter benefits programs.
  • Allowance to customize your home workspace and technology setup.
  • Annual professional development stipend.
  • Flexible, digital-first working environment supporting employees across Canada and the United States.
  • Inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives, transparency, collaboration, high standards, and continuous feedback.
