As the Director of Transmission and Interconnection at Exus, you will lead the technical execution and strategic portfolio management of utility-scale renewable energy projects across North America. This dual-focus role combines hands-on oversight of interconnection studies, single-line diagrams, and grid requests with high-level advisory support for senior leadership on development risks, acquisitions, and capital allocation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transmission Strategy & Pipeline Support: Develop transmission strategies, evaluate market access and economics, and lead due diligence (congestion, curtailment, deliverability, reliability) for greenfield projects, acquisitions, and development pipelines.

• ISO/RTO & Stakeholder Relations: Serve as primary interface with ISOs, RTOs, utilities, transmission owners, and consultants to manage relationships and drive project outcomes.

• Interconnection Management: Direct full interconnection study processes (feasibility, system impact, facility, restudy) and manage milestone trackers, reporting items, and financial security status.

• Applications & Technical Submissions: Prepare, review, and submit interconnection requests, single-line diagrams, modeling data, technical exhibits, and supporting engineering documentation.

• Risk & Cost Resolution: Lead the resolution of complex interconnection challenges, network upgrade requirements, and cost allocation matters.

• Power Flow & System Modeling: Prepare and provide technical oversight for power flow analyses, system modeling, generator interconnection studies, and transmission evaluations.

• QA/QC & Engineering Oversight: Review engineering deliverables, equipment specifications, and technical reports; perform rigorous QA/QC on studies, modeling assumptions, and consultant work products to catch risks and errors.

• Consultant & Vendor Management: Manage transmission planning consultants, engineering firms, and technical service providers.

• Regulatory Monitoring & Advocacy: Stay current on FERC, NERC, RTO, and state regulatory developments while providing support on transmission planning reforms and interconnection policies.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Development, Finance, Commercial, EPC, and Asset Management teams to optimize project outcomes and streamline handoffs from development to operations.

• Investment & M&A Support: Contribute technical expertise, due diligence, and insights to M&A evaluations, project acquisitions, and Investment Committee materials to drive executive decision-making.

Experience and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree preferred
• 10+ years of experience in transmission planning, interconnection, power system engineering, or related power industry roles required
• Extensive experience working with major ISOs and RTOs, including PJM, MISO, SPP, WECC, and ISO-NE required
• Direct experience managing utility-scale generation projects through the interconnection process from application submission through interconnection agreement execution and commercial operation required
• Experience with transmission planning, power system modeling, and interconnection studies required
• Experience supporting project development, acquisitions, investment decisions, or portfolio strategy required
• Experience in and desire to work as a player/coach required
