Description:

The Medical Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the operational oversight, coordination, and quality assurance of Medical Assistant (MA) services delivered across five school-based health clinics within the McFarland School District.

This role serves as the primary liaison between Good Samaritan Hospital, school district leadership, and partner clinical providers. The Supervisor ensures that Medical Assistants are effectively scheduled, properly trained, and consistently delivering high-quality, youth-centered care in accordance with clinical best practices and regulatory standards.

The position requires strong leadership, operational management, and cross-system collaboration to support integrated care in educational settings serving elementary, junior high, and high school students.

Key Responsibilities

Program Oversight & Operations

  • Supervise day-to-day MA operations across five school campuses
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure full clinic coverage
  • Monitor workflow efficiency and clinic readiness across all sites
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure consistency of service delivery

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for Medical Assistants
  • Ensure MAs are trained in pediatric and adolescent care best practices
  • Lead onboarding and ongoing competency development
  • Promote adherence to clinical protocols, documentation standards, and scope of practice

School & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as primary point of contact for school principals, administrators, and staff
  • Build strong, responsive relationships with each campus
  • Address operational concerns and support school-site integration of services
  • Represent Good Samaritan Hospital in all school-based interactions

Coordination with Nursing & Clinical Partners

  • Coordinate shared responsibilities with the district’s nursing subcontractor
  • Clarify workflows between MA and nursing functions to avoid duplication or gaps
  • Support integrated care delivery alongside primary care, behavioral health, and school personnel

Supply Chain & Resource Management

  • Oversee procurement and distribution of medical and administrative supplies
  • Ensure each site maintains adequate inventory and compliance with safety standards
  • Manage vendor relationships as needed

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations and school-based care standards
  • Monitor clinical quality, infection control, and safety protocols
  • Conduct chart reviews, audits, and process improvement initiatives
  • Implement best practices for care delivery across diverse youth populations

Communication & Reporting

  • Maintain clear communication with hospital leadership and district partners
  • Prepare regular operational and quality reports
  • Identify and escalate risks, barriers, or system improvement opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supervising clinical support staff (preferably Medical Assistants)
  • Experience working in ambulatory care, school-based health, or pediatric/adolescent settings
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of MA scope of practice and healthcare compliance requirements
