  • Calculate professional fee evaluation and management (E/M) levels using established coding methodologies and identify critical care cases based on patient acuity.
  • Interpret and apply current coding guidelines while assessing how documentation affects code assignment and reimbursement.
  • Support client coding requirements across specialties such as primary care, cardiology, vascular surgery, orthopedics, general surgery, neurology, oncology, and other professional fee services.
  • Work independently in a remote environment while maintaining required productivity, accuracy, and quality standards.
  • Use electronic medical record, billing, and related healthcare systems to complete coding activities efficiently.

  • Maintain professional and ethical coding practices consistent with recognized industry standards and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Participate in required training and continuing education to maintain coding knowledge and credentials.
  • Maintain required professional certification through an approved coding organization.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and leadership, coordinate priorities, analyze documentation, make sound decisions, and meet deadlines.
  • Perform additional coding or operational responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Requirements:
  • Active coding certification through AAPC, such as CPC or COC, or AHIMA, such as CCS or CCS-P, is required.
  • At least 2 years of professional coding experience is required, preferably with professional fee coding.
  • Working knowledge of medical coding systems and standards, including ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS.
  • Experience with healthcare systems such as electronic medical records and billing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of documentation requirements, coding guidelines, reimbursement implications, and accurate code assignment.
  • Ability to independently manage coding responsibilities in a remote work environment while meeting established productivity and quality expectations.
  • Ability to consistently maintain approximately 95% or higher accuracy and quality scores, as required for the role.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, sound judgment, and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook, including basic spreadsheet formulas, email management, and virtual meeting coordination.
  • Reliable internet access, a phone, and access to current coding reference materials, including CPT and ICD-10-CM resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.
  • Familiarity with specialties such as primary care, cardiology, vascular surgery, orthopedics, general surgery, neurology, oncology, or similar areas is a plus.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and remain effective in an environment involving multiple priorities and interruptions.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote position within the United States.
  • Opportunity to work across diverse professional fee coding specialties and healthcare programs.
