Job Description

Position Summary

Associate Application Analysts are responsible for the application and integration of information technology in the healthcare setting. The Application Analyst will work collaboratively with end users of information technology for the configuration, testing, training, maintenance & troubleshooting of hospital information systems. Analysts must have advanced knowledge of hospital purchased software & stay current on system upgrade needs. Participates in application implementation and procedure documentation. Ensure that system configuration meets organizational goals and external regulatory mandates (ex. HIPAA).

Department Summary

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting cardiology clinical systems, including imaging, reporting, interfaces, modalities, and data workflows, along with a strong understanding of cardiology department workflows across the cath lab, echocardiography, and vascular services. Preferred qualifications include strong troubleshooting and application configuration skills, experience supporting clinicians and physicians, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Informatics, Information Technology, Clinical Engineering, and external vendors.

Qualifications

  • Associate clinical degree or higher preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience with information technology applications in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including but not limited to email, word processing, spread sheets, power point & other necessary computer skills to fulfill job requirements.
  • Understanding of the need for discretion with all confidential & EPHI (Electronic Protected Health Information), as well as HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Implement applications, recommend innovative tools & workflows to assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care & the provision of health care.
  • Perform system upgrades & provide system maintenance when required.
  • Interpret, modify, analyze & design clinical systems, data & information.
  • Work with team colleagues to implement resolutions to system related issues to minimize operational impact.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and implements requests from user departments.
  • Assist with system customization including development of alerts/hard stops, data integration, order generation, automation of documentation & enforcement of adherence to workflows.
  • Crosstrain with other system applications, as needed, to provide team coverage.
  • Serve as a resource person for daily operational issues, the diagnosis of application errors & troubleshooting within the electronic health record.
  • Design & implement education programs & support end-user training.
  • Act as liaison between clinical colleagues, vendors & other IT departments to solve system problems.
  • Maintain high level of interaction with clinical departments to evaluate current EMR functionality & develop future applications by building consensus & using efficient decision-making processes.
  • Assist with the configuration & setup of new users within the clinical systems as they relate to the EHR.

Department Responsibilities & Expectations

Working Conditions

  • Primarily dayshift with off-shift coverage, as assigned.
  • Primarily work from home.
  • Willingness & ability to travel to work on site, as assigned (ex. Main Campus, Woodlawn, AMG office).
  • Scheduled on-call rotation.
