Position Description

GBI has always maintained that our employees are our greatest asset, and we are now seeking to add to our team. We are looking for an Estimator/Project Manager to join our team in Sparks, NV.
Position Summary
The Estimator / Project Manager is responsible for both preconstruction and project execution activities for heavy civil construction projects throughout Northern Nevada. This role develops competitive estimates, manages pursuits, supports business development efforts, and oversees the successful execution of awarded projects. The position works closely with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, field operations, and internal teams to deliver safe, profitable, and high-quality projects.
Position Description
- Uphold and model the Goodfellow Bros. Mission, Vision, and The Goodfellow Way.
- Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to define project scope, risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, production plans, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop competitive bids, proposals, budgets, and conceptual estimates.
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, owner meetings, and client presentations.
- Lead preconstruction activities including constructability reviews, value engineering, budgeting, and procurement planning.
- Manage heavy civil construction projects from award through closeout.
- Administer contracts, track compliance, and support proper documentation of contractual obligations, notices, and rights.
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and cash flow projections.
- Build and maintain project schedules, including CPM and short-interval planning.
- Manage change order pricing, negotiation, documentation, and execution.
- Coordinate field operations, equipment utilization, procurement, and staffing needs.
- Support safety, quality control, production tracking, and project documentation.
- Build strong relationships with owners, agencies, developers, consultants, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Identify new business opportunities and support long-term growth in the Nevada market.
- Mentor Project Engineers and support the development of field and office staff.
- Lead project closeout, lessons learned, and continuous improvement efforts.

This position offers a salary range of $125,000 to $175,000+ depending on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.

Position Requirements
Required Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge
- Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience with estimating and/or project management responsibilities.
- Experience with earthwork, underground utilities, concrete, grading, paving, structural excavation, and site development.
- Strong understanding of public and private work procurement methods.
- Experience managing projects up to $20M preferred.
- Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
