About This Position

Description:

Kinsley Power Systems, a family-owned business, has been a trusted leader in generator service, sales, and rentals for over 60 years. We’re committed to exceeding customer expectations in a workplace that’s both enjoyable and supportive—where your hard work is recognized and your growth is prioritized.

This hands-on role is an excellent entry point into the power generation industry and plays a critical part in supporting our service operations. The Entry-Level Diesel & Power Technician helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment while ensuring our Field Service Technicians have the tools, parts, and resources they need to be successful.

In addition, this role supports facility and grounds maintenance, coordinates with external vendors, and provides cross-functional backup support to the Parts Department as needed. This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals—such as automotive or lube technicians—who are looking to grow their skills and build a long-term career in diesel and power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop and stockroom.
  • Safely handle shipping and receiving duties using a powered industrial truck.
  • Conduct regular facility audits and ensure a safe, healthy work environment.
  • Support Field Service Technicians with parts deliveries, oil and coolant replenishment, and used oil disposal in compliance with regulations.
  • Assist technicians on jobs as needed.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for building maintenance, housekeeping, and waste management.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility and grounds.
  • Assist the Parts Department with orders, inventory management, and parts lookups.
  • Support emergency response efforts within and outside company territories as needed.
  • Cross-train to provide backup support for the Parts Coordinator position as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain DOT medical certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (as required by local regulations).
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong integrity, urgency, and results-driven approach to work.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
  • Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and environments.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers; Microsoft Office experience is a plus.
  • Mechanical inclination preferred; knowledge of diesel and gas engines is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
