Communications Intern - Fall 2025 in New York, New York at The Fresh Air Fund

Position Summary

The Communications Intern will support public relations, marketing and administrative projects, and they will gain an interactive, hands-on experience in the nonprofit communications field, including interviewing, media relations and social media.

This role is from late September to December 2025 for two days a week for a total of 12-14 hours per week. This is a hybrid position, with at least one day each week at The Fresh Air Fund’s NYC office (633 Third Avenue, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10017).

Responsibilities:

• Support creation of digital content for The Fund’s blog and social media, with a focus on TikTok
• Conduct research on social media and other digital trends
• Interview Fresh Air Fund children, parents and alumni
• Review participant records in Salesforce database and create reports on attendance and participation history
• Upload, catalog and tag images in photo database
• Assist with public relations activities
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18+ years of age. At least one year of college is preferred
• Required experience: 1-3 years (including internships, relevant course work and work-study programs)
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and time management skills
• Drive to learn in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently, and to follow directions
• Graphic design experience is a plus
• Interest in joining a youth development organization and supporting its mission and vision

Employment Period: September to December 2025

Hours per Week: 12-14 hours with a start time of 9am each day. Position requires working two days a week, with preferred scheduling between Monday and Thursday. Must be the same two days each week, with occasional evening and weekend commitments. 

Compensation: $17/hour
