Development Associate
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Development Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Associate of the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas will further the mission of EFCST by providing excellent and energetic fundraising support. The Development Associate is responsible for the administrative operations of the development department, including donor cultivation and stewardship activities, gift processing, donor acknowledgment, and donor database management. This position reports to the Development Director.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Development Associate performs a wide range of duties to support the Epilepsy Foundation and Development Department, including but not limited to:
- Oversee campaigns
- Create and track fundraising campaigns, including contacting potential donors, maintaining relationships, organizing fundraising events, and creating and submitting reports describing the campaign's progress and effectiveness.
- Coordinate fundraising events
- Manage logistics and guest lists for parties and receptions.
- Gather and prepare registration materials and perform other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
- Presence at special events may require evening or weekend work.
- Acknowledge donors
- Record gifts and acknowledge donors in a timely and IRS-compliant manner.
- Maintain donor entries in the database, including contact information, call reports, event attendance, and volunteer engagement.
- Coordinate reports
- Create monthly fundraising reports.
- Develop event and other database reports as needed.
- Provide communications support
- Research diverse funding sources to expand funding opportunities.
- Help create and proofread emails, direct mail, and other communication materials, including an annual report and event calendars.
- Support grant writing efforts.
- Assist the CEO and Development Director as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent
experience
1-2 years related experience or equivalent preferred
Nonprofit database experience, Salesforce or Classy is a plus
Commitment to excellence and high standards
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to maintain relationships and solve problems
Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects and manage competing priorities
Ability to remember and convey detailed instructions for multiple projects
Ability to work without supervision and as a member of various teams and committees
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to diverse audiences
Professional appearance and demeanor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is performed in a well-lighted, ventilated office environment with no known environmental hazards. Walks short distances and stoops or bends occasionally when filing. Must be able to handle weights up to 25 pounds for equipment distribution.
HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. Additional hours, including nights and weekends, may be required as needed.
TRAVEL:
Occasional travel is expected for this position.
