Job Description

About Work Creation Program (WCP)

For over 30 years, Work Creation Program has been empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Southern California to build real-world independence.

We operate on a simple principle: the community is our classroom. Rather than spending days in a traditional workshop, our participants build vocational, social, and life skills directly out in local businesses, parks, and neighborhoods. Through our 1:3 and 1:4 staff-to-participant ratio day and behavior management programs, we provide the personalized support and positive guidance every individual needs to thrive.

Why Join Our Team?

When you work at WCP, you aren't just taking a job—you’re driving real change. Every day, our staff are out in the field mentoring participants, facilitating hands-on vocational training, and helping individuals connect with their local communities. If you are passionate about direct support, community empowerment, and making a tangible impact daily, WCP is the place for you.

About the role

  • Join our social services team helping adults with developmental disabilities achieve greater independence in their daily lives. This is a hands-on, active, community-based role — not a desk job. Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM. Starting pay $20/hr plus $0.70/mile reimbursement; full benefits after a 60-day period.

What you'll do

  • Train and support adults with developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals
  • Help clients build skills in work, social interactions, and community involvement
  • Act as a mentor and advocate for clients in public and work environments
  • Monitor progress and communicate with the team regarding each client's development

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college degree a plus)
  • Reliable vehicle with current auto registration and insurance
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish a plus)
  • Compassion, patience, and a strong desire to help others
  • Able to work consistently full-time, Monday through Friday
