Job Description
Position Description:
WHERE PRECISION MEETS COMPLIANCE
This is not an entry-level role.
We are seeking an experienced Inventory Lead with a proven background in highly regulated inventory environments to oversee and maintain inventory integrity within our cannabis retail operation. This role is designed for someone who not only understands
compliance-heavy inventory, but can lead inventory operations, set standards, and hold systems and people accountable.
If you have managed controlled, audited, or high-value inventory—and understand that accuracy, documentation, and compliance are non-negotiable—we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- As the Inventory Lead, you will own the accuracy, organization, and compliance of all inventory systems.
- You will work closely with store leadership, sales, and fulfillment teams to ensure inventory flow is controlled, auditable, and compliant with Michigan cannabis regulations.
- Lead and maintain accurate, real-time inventory across all cannabis product categories
- Oversee daily, weekly, and cycle counts to ensure physical inventory aligns with digital systems
- Manage product intake, verification, labeling, storage, and organization
- Monitor product movement and investigate and resolve discrepancies immediately
- Ensure strict adherence to METRC requirements and internal SOPs
- Train and support staff on proper inventory handling and compliance procedures
- Coordinate restocking and inventory flow with sales and fulfillment teams
- Prepare inventory for transfers, reconciliations, audits, and compliance reviews
- Communicate shortages, variances, and risk areas to management proactively
- Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready inventory areas at all times
Required Experience & Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of inventory management experience in a regulated environment
- Experience overseeing controlled, high-value, or audited inventory
- Strong understanding of inventory audits, reconciliation, and documentation
- Proven ability to maintain accuracy under pressure and tight timelines
- Comfortable working in a high-volume retail environment
- Must be 21+ and able to pass required background checks
Strongly Preferred
- Cannabis retail or cultivation inventory experience
- Hands-on experience with METRC or other seed-to-sale systems
- Background in cannabis operations, pharmaceuticals, medical inventory, fine jewelry, luxury goods, or alcohol distribution
- Familiarity with POS and inventory management software
Skills That Matter Here
- Exceptional attention to detail — errors are costly in this role
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- Ability to follow SOPs precisely while adapting to daily operational demands
- Leadership mindset with a high level of ownership and accountability
- Calm, solutions-oriented approach in fast-paced environments
What This Role Is Not
- Not an entry-level position
- Not a budtender or customer-only role
- Not suitable for candidates without inventory or compliance experience
- Not a casual or “learn as you go” position
- This role requires experience, leadership, precision, and ownership.
What We Offer
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Employee discounts
- Consistent full-time schedule (30–40 hours per week)
- Growth opportunities within a leading Michigan cannabis company
- A professional, accountable team environment that values accuracy and compliance
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull inventory, boxes, and cannabis products weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach overhead while organizing inventory, conducting audits, stocking products, and maintaining storage areas.
- Comfortable performing repetitive inventory tasks, including counting, labeling, scanning, data entry, and product verification throughout the workday.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume retail and inventory environment with frequent movement and multitasking.
- Must possess the manual dexterity necessary to handle cannabis products, packaging materials, scanners, computers, and inventory systems accurately and safely.
- Ability to use inventory management software, METRC, point-of-sale systems, handheld scanners, and other operational equipment for extended periods.
- Capable of maintaining a high level of focus, accuracy, and attention to detail while managing audits, reconciliations, and compliance documentation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with management, fulfillment teams, vendors, and staff regarding inventory discrepancies, operational needs, and compliance matters.
- Comfortable working in varying retail and stockroom conditions, including moderate noise levels, tight storage areas, and frequent movement between departments.
- Ability to maintain organization, cleanliness, and audit-ready inventory conditions at all times.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
