nou Systems, Inc. (nSI) is seeking a Junior Radar Engineer. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the analysis of missile defense radar systems as well as models and simulations of these radar elements. This position requires a willingness to learn all of the technical aspects of typical BMDS radar systems. This role involves assisting and learning from senior technical personnel in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of radar systems models and data reduction/extraction tools. The successful candidate will work full-time on-site at MDA in a classified area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work to be performed in closed area of Missile Defense Agency (MDA) located on Redstone Arsenal
- Assist in the development and maintenance of existing tactical radar data reduction toolsets written mainly in Matlab.
- Assist in the enhancements/modification of existing radar models and simulations mainly in Matlab .
- Willingness to review and understand existing radar system specifications/documents
- Willingness to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in understanding MDA radar systems.
- Help maintain accurate documentation of technical procedures, configurations, and system changes.
- Collaborate with team members to support ongoing upgrades.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in electrical engineering with 0-3 years of experience
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
- Advanced understanding of developing software with Matlab and Python
- Experience with troubleshooting and resolving software technical issues.
- Strong communication skills to effectively assist users and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and document work accurately.
- ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with existing radar models to include AFSIM and Benchmark models
- previous experience with RF systems and/or electromagnetic studies background
- Understanding of Configuration Management (CM) software packages such as GitLab
- Experience working in an IT support or technical assistance role within the engineering industry.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or macOS.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of performing configuration management of incremental software development activities
- Having an active SECRET security clearance
