This part-time temporary role supports real-time monitoring and intelligence services for high-profile global clients.
You’ll track social and traditional media developments, identifying emerging narratives, trends, and potential reputational risks as they unfold.
Working with large volumes of social media data, you’ll help transform fast-moving information into concise, actionable insights.
You’ll contribute to client alerts, news briefings, scheduled reports, and ad-hoc analysis across a range of topics and industries.
The role combines media monitoring, analytical writing, data preparation, and collaboration with experienced intelligence analysts.
It is particularly suited to someone who is curious about the 24/7 news cycle and the intersection of business, culture, politics, and reputation.
The position follows a non-traditional weekend schedule and offers opportunities to build expertise in modern monitoring technologies and analytical methods.
- Monitor social media activity across platforms such as Twitter and Reddit using Talkwalker, identifying important developments, emerging narratives, and potentially viral content.
- Support real-time traditional news monitoring by preparing and delivering client briefings and updates as needed.
- Work closely with analysts to identify social posts and developments that could create reputational risk, escalating significant issues promptly and effectively.
- Collect, organize, and prepare data to support social media analysis and scheduled client reporting.
- Write clear, descriptive analysis that explains the underlying stories and drivers behind positive, negative, or neutral social media trends.
- Contribute to longer-term traditional and social media analysis projects as opportunities arise.
- Validate and work with Excel-based reporting data to support the creation of charts, graphics, and other analytical outputs.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the monitoring and intelligence teams to ensure consistent, high-quality client support.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; communications, journalism, economics, history, or another social science field is preferred.
- Experience producing analytical reports and written materials using Microsoft Office.
- Strong interest in social media, the 24/7 news cycle, and the intersection of culture, business, politics, and reputation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex or fast-moving information clearly.
- Strong analytical curiosity and a desire to understand the context, drivers, and deeper meaning behind media content.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over assigned work.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, particularly when managing multiple competing demands.
- Collaborative approach and experience working effectively as part of a team.
- Coachability, adaptability, and a genuine interest in learning new technologies, tools, and analytical methodologies.
- Ability to work remotely every weekend from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET on both Saturdays and Sundays.
- Applicants must be located in the United States.
- $20 per hour for this temporary, non-exempt position.
- Pre-approved hours worked over 40 hours per week are paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate.
