Job Description

Position Description: Who We Are

Who We Seek
Hispanic Federation is seeking Canvassers to complete voter registration and support community outreach via door knocking, community events, phone banking, and text messaging services. The Community Outreach Canvassers will work closely with the Hispanic Federation Team Lead Canvasser to create a meaningful impact in community outreach to ensure specific, underserved communities participate fully in their civic duty, specifically around voter registration and GOTV (Get Out the Vote) campaigns.

The successful candidate is comfortable speaking to community members in English and Spanish, understands the importance of community engagement in the civic process, and can adhere to protocols and procedures as directed. The canvassers will report to the Director of Community Outreach and Engagement.

Position Location: Orlando, Florida
Salary: $22/hr. up to 28 hours per week.
Reports to: Director of Community Outreach and Engagement
Temporary position September 21, 2026 – October 26, 2026

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct door-to-door canvassing in assigned neighborhoods to educate community members about voter registration and election information about the 2026 mid-term elections.
  • Engage residents in respectful, nonpartisan conversations about voter registration, Vote-by-Mail, early voting, Election Day, and other voter education topics.
  • Assist eligible voters with online voter registration through TurboVote, which connects voters to the Florida Department of State's online voter registration system.
  • Conduct voter outreach through phone banking and text banking using platforms such as VAN, Hustle, and ThruTalk.
  • Accurately document voter contacts, outreach activities, and program data using MiniVan.
  • Meet assigned outreach goals and performance metrics for voter registration, canvassing, phone banking, text banking, and other civic engagement activities.
  • Attend all required orientations, training, team meetings, and field briefings to ensure compliance with program requirements and best practices.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Civic Engagement team by providing updates on outreach activities, progress toward deliverables, and any challenges encountered in the field.
  • Protect the confidentiality of voter information and maintain the security of all personal data collected during outreach activities.
  • Perform additional civic engagement, Get Out tThe Vote (GOTV), and community outreach duties as assigned to support the successful implementation of the organization's programs and grant objectives.
  • Carry out any other duties needed to support Hispanic Federation’s civic engagement work.
  • Adhere to all nonpartisan guidelines, abiding by IRC 501(c)(3) regulations; and federal, state, and local laws and all local election regulations while executing operations under this Agreement.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience with community outreach and engaging Florida’s diverse population around voter registration
  • Have access to reliable, consistent internet and have access to technology to properly engage in required technology and applications.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and as required during community and engagement events.
  • Strong understanding of Latino and social justice issues.
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
  • Bilingual is a strong asset (Spanish and English)
  • Must be available to work on weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform duties outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Can adhere to HF’s safety protocols and procedures.
