Logistics Specialist I

Responsibilities

  • Analyze logistics operations, inventory trends, and supply chain performance to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and recommend improvements to logistics policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal controls to improve operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the primary logistics advisor to program management by providing recommendations regarding procurement priorities, inventory strategies, asset visibility, and property accountability.
  • Independently evaluate logistics requirements and determine appropriate courses of action to meet mission and customer objectives. Provide customer-focused logistics support during both peacetime and contingency operations.
  • Utilize the Global Combat Support System–Army (GCSS-Army) to perform supply, maintenance, and inventory management functions.
  • Receive, inspect, and process materials, repair parts, components, and assemblies supporting maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory accountability and conduct materiel transactions within GCSS-Army.
  • Process turn-ins of recoverable items in accordance with applicable Army regulations.
  • Prepare and submit Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs) and Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) for defective, damaged, or incorrectly supplied items.
  • Serve as the departmental warranty coordinator, tracking warranty actions and resolutions.
  • Coordinate with item managers to expedite required materials and monitor long-lead procurement actions.
  • Track and update parts statuses, priorities, and estimated shipping dates to support operational requirements.
  • Execute duties in compliance with established GCSS-Army policies, Army regulations, and supply management procedures.
  • Support warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues encountered within logistics systems.
  • Perform additional administrative and logistics-related duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess demonstrated education, training, or experience in Department of War logistics operatio2740ns, including proficiency in the following areas:
  • Experience performing property accountability functions in accordance with:
    • AR 710-2, Supply Policy Below the National Level
    • AR 735-5, Property Accountability Policies
  • Hands-on experience using GCSS-Army (GCSS-A).
  • Knowledge of Army supply management principles, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving activities.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and apply established procedures to resolve logistics issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Windows operating systems, and other standard business software.
  • Ability to apply established logistics principles and technical expertise to complex assignments and identify effective solutions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Current familiarity with the Tactical Communications Division and its processes and procedures surrounding procurement and logistics.
  • Candidates must possess demonstrated education, training, or experience in Department of Defense logistics operations, including proficiency in the following areas:
  • Experience performing property accountability functions in accordance with:
      • AR 710-2, Supply Policy Below the National Level
      • AR 735-5, Property Accountability Policies
  • Hands-on experience using GCSS-Army (GCSS-A).
  • Knowledge of Army supply management principles, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving activities.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and apply established procedures to resolve logistics issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Windows operating systems, and other standard business software.
  • Ability to apply established logistics principles and technical expertise to complex assignments and identify effective solutions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, logistics or other relatable degrees

Clearance:

  • DoW secret level clearance.


Education & Experience:

  • 2–7 years of progressively responsible experience in logistics, supply operations, asset visibility, property accountability, or related property management disciplines.


Location:

  • Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.
  • Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Schedule flexing is available with the PM’s approval.

Travel:

Once a quarter or less.


Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to bend, stretch, and twist
  • Able to stand or sit for long periods of time
