Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Memphis office. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
Job SummaryThe Legal Assistant in this role will support attorneys handling General Liability and Insurance Defense litigation matters. This is a hands-on position requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Draft and prepare correspondence and legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and reports under the attorney's direction
- Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including trial and discovery deadlines
- Schedule depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings
- Organize and maintain case files, including opening, closing, and ongoing file management
- Monitor case progress and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement
- Assist attorneys with time entry and billing support
- Prepare, issue, and track subpoenas and other records requests
- Handle state and federal e-filing of documents
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
- Perform additional administrative and litigation support duties as assigned
- 3+ years of legal assistant experience supporting litigators in general liability or insurance defense, preferably in a high-volume law firm environment
- Strong working knowledge of civil litigation procedures
- Experience with Tennessee state e-filing systems required; PACER experience a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
