Role Description

At the heart of ĒMA’s mission to prevent family separation is the belief that every mother deserves the opportunity to reclaim stability and strengthen her family. The Advocacy Case Manager plays a central role in that journey—walking alongside mothers facing crisis as a consistent advocate, guide, and encourager.

This full-time position facilitates relational support, resource coordination, and personal advocacy that empowers mothers to not only overcome urgent challenges but also build toward a stable, hope-filled future. The Case Manager is a compassionate, mission-aligned professional who recognizes that lasting change begins by meeting a mother right where she is.

At ĒMA, we understand that long-term progress—like regular oil changes—only matters if the car is running. That’s why we prioritize addressing urgent, real-time needs as a starting point for transformation. This role holds the balance of immediate care and long-term planning. Case Managers partner closely with each mom to define actionable, achievable steps forward—and to celebrate each milestone as a sign of her growth and resilience.

Far beyond case documentation or service referrals, this role is about showing up consistently, nurturing trust, and helping mothers navigate crisis with dignity. Through collaboration with volunteers and community partners, facilitation of personalized care plans, and deep relational engagement, the Advocacy Case Manager is a key part of every mom’s redemptive path toward lasting stability and restored family life.

Key Responsibilities

The key objectives include the following areas of focus and management: Intake and Crisis Intervention, Resource Coordination and Support, Documentation and Communication, and Volunteer Management.

Intake and Crisis InterventionReceive and manage assigned client referrals with intentional care, conducting comprehensive, strengths-based assessments to understand each mother’s unique situation.Partner with clients to develop clear, realistic, and empowering action plans that address urgent needs while laying a foundation for long-term stability.Provide responsive, compassionate crisis intervention, supporting moms through high-risk situations and coordinating with professionals and systems to ensure safety and support.Uphold each mother’s dignity and confidentiality at all times, creating a safe and trusted space for her to engage in change.Resource Coordination and SupportRespond creatively and practically to meet clients' immediate needs, while equipping them with tools to work toward self-defined goals.Empower mothers to actively lead in their own progress, offering hands-on support and celebrating each step forward together.Provide in-court support for clients with open dependency case plans, offering a consistent and trusted presence during legal proceedings.Ensure mothers are connected to appropriate services and support systems that align with their goals and dignity, removing barriers and following through with care.Documentation and CommunicationCommunicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with clients, staff, volunteers, and external partners—both verbally and in writing.Prepare and submit accurate, timely reports for ChildNet and other agencies, maintaining compliance and transparency.Maintain thorough, up-to-date client records and data, supporting quality care and program effectiveness.Work collaboratively with the ĒMA: Broward leaders and team members to ensure consistency and stability in client support.Volunteer Management Thoughtfully pair clients with trained Volunteer Advocates, ensuring alignment with each mom’s goals, communication style, and areas of needed support.Collaborate with Volunteer Advocates to plan and facilitate one-on-one and group parenting sessions that reflect client needs and ĒMA programming standards.Provide ongoing guidance, encouragement, and oversight to Volunteer Advocates as they support moms in their journey.Review documentation submitted by Volunteer Advocates and offer constructive feedback to support high-quality engagement and accurate records.Additional ExpectationsSupport client-facing events, community outreach efforts, and organizational engagement opportunities (e.g., speaking engagements, interviews, promotional tables).Participate in ĒMA-wide events, trainings, and initiatives that strengthen program consistency and team culture.Facilitate ĒMA Group programming as needed, ensuring continuity and quality in client experience.Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Required

Bachelor’s degree in social work or comparable experience in case management, social services, or a related field.Strong interpersonal and relational skills; able to build trust, listen with empathy, and engage moms in a supportive, strengths-based way.Experience navigating community resources and coordinating care with external agencies or providers.Clear, professional communication skills—both written and verbal—with an emphasis on respectful, dignifying interactions.Strong organizational and time management abilities; able to prioritize well and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and follow-through.Commitment to ĒMA’s mission, values, and approach to prevention-focused, mother-centered support.PreferredMaster’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field.Two or more years of direct experience working with vulnerable mothers or families, including development of action plans and follow-up care.Experience working directly with women or families in crisis.Bilingual (Spanish and/or Haitian Creole) strongly preferred.
