Dozer Operator at Sterling Construction Company, Inc. – San Antonio, Texas

Responsibilities

• Fasten attachments to the tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to the tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.
• Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Move hand and foot levers to control hydraulic shovel.
• Use shovel to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width, remove loosened material, and put in piles or transport trucks.
• Maneuver equipment by moving levers and depressing pedals to raise, lower, and tilt attachments to clear right-of-way.
• Estimate depth of cut by feeling lever and listening for stalling action of engine.
• Drive bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment operation (Required)
• Possess a valid Driver's License
• Ability to pass a background check
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
