Material Planner in Glasgow, Kentucky at Akebono Brake Corporation

BASIC POSITION DUTIES:

• This position is responsible for daily releases to suppliers to support JIT shipments to OE, OES, & AM customers.

JOB DUTIES:

• There is substantial customer and supplier contact, so excellent verbal and written skills are necessary.
• This position requires development, implementation and maintenance of personal and organizational goals and objectives.
• Tracking of supplier delivery performance and premium freight measurement systems for compliance.
• Participates in production meetings and as a product cross-functional team member which requires in-depth interaction with manufacturing, change control, production, quality, purchasing, engineering, and sales.
• Must maintain customer rating requirements/scores as defined by the customer and division. Will utilize customer inventory control systems and supply information as required by the customer/system.
• Complies with all safety policies and procedures.
• Supports the development of short- & long-term capacity planning.
• Focus will be on optimizing inventory turns, utilize lean tools or other systematic approach to reduce logistic cost, improve visibility/flow, without production interference.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Some scheduling/planning experience is preferred.
• Computer skills are a must, with MAPICS and Excel skills/experience a definite plus.
• Preference will be given to candidates with automotive experience.
• A 4-year Degree in business related degree is preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

• Ability to work in a Team Environment.
• Proficiency with P.C. based software.
• Willingness to stay on a problem through completion.
• Strong oral and written communications.
• Knowledge of purchasing system and methods in manufacturing.
