Maintenance & Transportation Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Pay Range: $19.00–$22.00 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and versatile Maintenance & Transportation Specialist to support the day-to-day operations of our behavioral health treatment facilities. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position that combines facility maintenance responsibilities and client transportation.

The position will generally consist of approximately 50% facility maintenance and 50% client transportation. The actual distribution of responsibilities may vary from week to week based on client transportation needs, facility priorities, scheduling requirements, and operational demands.

Driving and client transportation are essential functions of this position. The employee must maintain a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and meet all company and applicable insurance requirements for operating company vehicles.

The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, comfortable working around clients in a behavioral health treatment environment, and able to transition between maintenance and transportation responsibilities as operational needs require.

Primary ResponsibilitiesMaintenance – Approximately 50%
  • Perform routine facility maintenance and minor/general repairs throughout the facilities.
    • Complete assigned maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic minor repairs involving plumbing, fixtures, doors, locks, furniture, walls, and other facility equipment.
    • Assemble, install, move, or repair furniture and equipment as needed.
    • Complete minor painting, patching, touch-ups, and general facility upkeep.
    • Conduct routine inspections of the property and identify maintenance or safety concerns.
    • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks.
    • Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance areas, tools, and supplies.
    • Assist with grounds and exterior facility needs as assigned.
  • Promptly report larger or specialized repairs, safety hazards, or issues requiring a licensed contractor or qualified outside vendor.
  • Maintenance responsibilities are limited to minor/general repairs and facility upkeep. Work requiring a licensed professional or contractor will be handled by an appropriately qualified external provider.
    • Support facility projects and other operational needs as assigned.
Client Transportation – Approximately 50%
    • Safely transport clients to and from scheduled appointments, facilities, airports, hospitals, pharmacies, and other approved destinations.
    • Transport clients between company locations when needed.
    • Assist with transportation related to client admissions and discharges.
    • Maintain professional and appropriate boundaries with clients at all times.
    • Follow all company policies regarding client transportation, confidentiality, safety, and supervision.
    • Ensure clients arrive at scheduled destinations safely and on time.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of company vehicles.
    • Complete required vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
    • Maintain accurate transportation logs and other required documentation.
    • Follow all traffic laws and company vehicle safety requirements.
    • Communicate transportation delays, client concerns, incidents, or other issues to the appropriate staff promptly.
  • Maintain eligibility to operate company vehicles in accordance with company policies and applicable insurance requirements.
Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must meet and maintain all company and applicable insurance requirements to operate company vehicles.
    • Previous maintenance, handyman, facilities, or property maintenance experience preferred.
    • Experience transporting clients, patients, residents, or passengers is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance and minor/general repair tasks independently.
    • Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
    • Strong reliability, punctuality, and time-management skills.
    • Ability to communicate professionally with clients, staff, leadership, and outside providers.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
    • Comfortable working in a behavioral health and substance use treatment environment.
Physical Requirements

With or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to:

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform physical maintenance tasks throughout the workday.
  • Safely lift, carry, push, and move items associated with routine maintenance and facility operations.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle for extended periods when transportation needs require.
  • Perform the essential physical functions associated with routine facility maintenance and client transportation.
Schedule Expectations

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. Responsibilities are anticipated to be approximately:

50% – Facility Maintenance
50% – Client Transportation

This is an estimated division of responsibilities and is not a guaranteed weekly allocation of hours or duties. The employee must be flexible to perform additional transportation or maintenance duties depending on client needs, facility priorities, and operational demands.

Because client transportation needs may vary, schedule flexibility is required, and occasional evening and/or weekend work may be necessary to accommodate client appointments, admissions, discharges, or other transportation needs.

Compensation

Pay Range: $19.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Equal Employment Opportunity & Reasonable Accommodation

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions of the position, consistent with applicable law.
