POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Generalist delivers comprehensive human resources support across the colleague lifecycle, including onboarding and offboarding, benefits and leave administration, colleague relations support, HRIS data integrity, and compliance-related activities. This role serves as a trusted partner to colleagues and leaders, ensuring consistent application of policies, accurate execution of processes, and a positive colleague experience aligned with organizational values.
The HR Generalist operates with a high level of independence and judgment, supporting both day-to-day HR operations and broader HR initiatives, while contributing to continuous improvement of processes, reporting, and engagement efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support recruitment activities, including job posting coordination, resume screening assistance, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
- Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, system setup, orientation coordination, and exit procedures.
- Administer and support benefits programs, including new hire enrollments, life event changes, open enrollment activities, and coordination with benefits vendors or brokers.
- Support leave of absence processes (e.g., FMLA, ADA, and applicable state leaves), including documentation tracking and coordination with internal partners.
- Serve as a first point of contact for colleague inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and HR procedures, providing guidance with professionalism and discretion.
- Document, assess, and escalate colleague concerns as appropriate, supporting fair and consistent resolution while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist leadership with employee relations matters, including performance management documentation and corrective action support, in partnership with leadership.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date colleague records within the HRIS and related systems, ensuring data integrity, audit readiness, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assist with policy development, updates, and interpretation to ensure consistent application and alignment with employment laws and organizational practices.
- Coordinate and support colleague engagement initiatives, organizational events, onboarding meetings, and recognition programs.
- Support compliance efforts by maintaining accurate documentation and assisting with audits, reviews, or reporting requirements.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, escalating risks or concerns as needed.
- Assist with payroll administration while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and adherence to privacy standards.
- Perform additional HR-related duties and project work as assigned in support of HR priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- SHRM or PHR certification a plus.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist, HR Operations, or similar role.
- Working knowledge of core HR functions, including benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance.
- Experience with Paylocity HRIS and payroll systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High attention to detail and strong data accuracy skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, service-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
