Job Description

Senior Manager, Systems Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Systems Engineering based in United States.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity focused on transforming corporate systems engineering into a scalable internal platform function.
You will lead an experienced team responsible for identity, endpoint management, IT service management, procurement enablement, and enterprise tooling.
The role combines people leadership with ownership of high-priority infrastructure initiatives that affect employees across the organization.
You will help establish stronger automation, governance, visibility, and self-service capabilities as the business continues to scale.
A major focus will be enabling secure and effective use of AI tooling across enterprise systems and workflows.
You will work closely with Security, GRC, Finance, Engineering, and AI teams, influencing decisions beyond your immediate area of ownership.
This role is ideal for a technically strong leader who enjoys simplifying inherited complexity and building systems that make the broader organization faster and more effective.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of systems engineers and a technical lead, setting clear expectations, maintaining a high performance bar, and supporting sustained professional growth.
  • Own end-to-end joiner, mover, and leaver automation across identity and access systems, ensuring appropriate access throughout the employee lifecycle and complete removal of credentials, API keys, and service accounts upon departure.
  • Define and manage device assurance capabilities across macOS and Windows, establishing clear operating system, browser, security, and device-state policies before enforcement is required.
  • Rationalize and improve the IT service management environment, increasing self-service capabilities while reducing unnecessary administrative overhead for engineering teams.
  • Establish Corporate Engineering as a governed part of SaaS procurement, ensuring appropriate SSO, access reviews, security controls, and visibility before new tools are broadly deployed.
  • Own the identity, access, and connector infrastructure supporting enterprise AI tooling, including MCP servers and relevant platforms, in partnership with AI and Data teams.
  • Develop visibility into team workload, demand, capacity, and priorities, using data to improve planning and make resource tradeoffs transparent to stakeholders.
  • Partner with Security, GRC, Finance, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to create practical guardrails that enable safe self-service rather than unnecessarily slowing business operations.
  • Provide technical direction across systems engineering initiatives, evaluating estimates, identifying genuine risks, and ensuring reported progress reflects meaningful delivery.
  • Identify and resolve inherited technical complexity, including unfinished migrations, inefficient workflows, legacy endpoint programs, and over-engineered processes.
  • Promote responsible use of AI to improve automation, efficiency, and engineering outcomes across corporate systems and internal platforms.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in IT, systems engineering, corporate engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing engineers, with a demonstrated ability to raise team performance through coaching, accountability, and sustained leadership.
  • Experience leading systems engineering functions spanning areas such as identity and access management, endpoint management, ITSM, SaaS procurement, or enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong technical depth and judgment, with the ability to evaluate technical estimates, understand architecture and implementation risks, and distinguish genuine delivery from superficial progress.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-enabled enterprise tooling and automation, including deploying, integrating, or governing AI capabilities within corporate systems.
  • Familiarity with platforms and technologies such as Okta, Okta Workflows, Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Atlassian, GitHub, or comparable enterprise systems.
  • Experience automating employee lifecycle processes, device management, access controls, connectors, and enterprise workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify inherited complexity and turn fragmented systems or processes into scalable, reliable platforms.
  • An enablement-oriented mindset, with a preference for making processes safe and easy to self-serve rather than relying primarily on restrictive controls.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills, particularly when important dependencies and decision-making authority sit within partner organizations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Security, GRC, Finance, Engineering, AI, Data, and other business functions.
  • Experience working in an organization that has undergone significant growth or a major headcount inflection is preferred.
  • Strong curiosity and willingness to adopt AI as a tool for amplifying technical and leadership capabilities, while applying sound judgment and responsible practices.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
Benefits
  • Industry-competitive salary and equity.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with employee-only premiums fully covered for most medical plans.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave for all new parents.
  • Health and wellness stipend.
  • Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipends.
  • Commuter benefits for employees working from designated offices.
  • Family planning benefits.
  • 401(k) matching contribution with immediate vesting.
  • Flexible paid time off policy plus 80 hours of sick time.
  • 11 company-paid holidays.
  • Virtual team-building activities, lunch-and-learns, and company-wide events.
  • Remote-first work environment with access to offices in San Francisco, New York City, London, Dublin, Tel Aviv, and Sydney.
  • Transparent U.S. compensation ranges, with final offers determined by factors including location, skills, experience, and relevant credentials.
