Medical Inventory Specialist for the Veterans in Oceana, West Virginia at Greenbrier Government Solutions Inc.

Greenbrier is currently sourcing for an On-site Representative (OSR)/Onsite Medical Inventory Technician supporting the Veterans Affairs in New Orleans, LA (2400 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119).

The ideal candidate will have previously supported the Veterans Affairs VSINs in Weight-Based Inventory Systems management, possess some experience in setting up and configuring scales, moving scales, wiring connectivity for scales, and/or warehouse and logistics fieldwork to ensure seamless inventory operations and support strategic decision-making. This position offers an opportunity to work directly on critical inventory systems that impact veteran care for themselves and their families.

These OSCR’s will support our VA client with Weight-based Inventory Systems (WBIS) that automatically tracks inventory and will be trained to maintain the Par Excellence Inventory Systems to perform the following tasks:

Job Duties

• Responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to inventory bin/scale units. This includes registering new items into the system and deregistering obsolete or recalled items. The role requires physical handling of inventory materials and equipment to support these operations.
• Primary Technician for Weight-Based Point of Use (POU) Maintenance. Acts as the lead technical resource for all maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support activities related to weight-based POU bin/scale systems across the main medical center, Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and Health Care Centers (HCCs).
• Executes Physical Item Registration and Deregistration.
• Conducts hands-on registration and deregistration of items at bin/scale units. Ensures physical inventory aligns with system records for operational accuracy.
• Provides instruction and guidance to secondary personnel on system operations and standard procedures. Training responsibilities are carried out in coordination with, and at the discretion of, the Supply Chain Analyst Supervisor.
• Facilitates Interdepartmental Coordination; Collaborates closely with VISN 6 Supply Chain Analyst Supervisors and reports to the Commodities Program Manager. Maintains corporate knowledge of operational systems and processes through weekly communication with the Par Excellence helpdesk.
• Supports and Oversees Weight-Based POU Projects; Acts as a project assistant on large-scale weight-based POU implementations, including facility expansions and new site activations. Independently manages smaller-scale initiatives such as SKU replacements, deregistration of recalled items, and troubleshooting of bin/scale-related errors.
• Monitors Execution of the Daily Quantity Hand Replacement Macro; Verifies the successful execution of the daily Quantity Hand Replacement macro and maintains a rolling schedule indicating responsible personnel and execution timelines.
• Validates Weekly Execution of Add/Edit POU Macros; Ensures the weekly Add/Edit POU macros are completed as scheduled. Maintains oversight of the schedule including personnel assignments and compliance tracking.
• Coordinates with the VA’s Office of Information and Technology (OI&T); Interfaces with OI&T personnel to resolve issues related to controllers, PAR EX database, and non-user-induced technical error incident.
• Initiates Technical Support Requests for Inventory Management; Submits and manages through the MyIT Portal tickets for the Expendables Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist (SIMS) to address technical or procedural issues.
• Conducts In-Depth Error Analysis; Performs rigorous analysis of registration discrepancies, including packaging weight variances and unit of issue inconsistencies, to ensure data integrity and inventory accuracy.
• Sustains Inventory System Functionality; Maintains the operational integrity of both primary and secondary inventory points. Proactively identifies and mitigates potential upstream issues that could impact system performance.
• Produces Weekly Operational Reports; Compiles and submits a detailed weekly weight based POU docket of actions and deliverables to the Commodities Program Manager, outlining current activities, project statuses, error resolutions, and key deliverables related to weight-based POU systems.
• Optimizes Physical Storage Utilization; Continuously evaluates and implements bin/scale configurations to maximize closet space through strategic layout analysis. Coordinates with VA to facilitate the replacement of faulty components at no cost.
• Maintains Mobile Troubleshooting Readiness; Keeps a clean and organized work environment, including a fully equipped mobile troubleshooting station that can be rapidly deployed to address technical issues in the field.
• Engages in Collaborative Systems Analysis; Works in close partnership with VISN Supply System Analysts to ensure the seamless integration and efficiency of inventory systems, supporting cross-functional improvements in supply chain management.

Requirements

• US Citizenship; ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance for the VA
• Highly Detailed-Oriented
• Bachelor's degree, or 2 years of professional work experience
• Candidate must be motivated to learn, train, and work onsite
• Previous work for the VA a plus!
• Previous work experience in WBIS or with the Par Excellence Inventory Systems a plus!
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
