Job Description
Position Summary
The Service Porter supports the daily operations of the dealership service department by moving, organizing, and maintaining customer and dealership vehicles. This role helps ensure efficient traffic flow, a clean and organized service area, and a positive customer experience through safe vehicle handling and general operational support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Move and park customer and dealership vehicles safely throughout the service department and dealership property.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the service drive, parking areas, and service lanes.
- Assist with vehicle check-in, delivery preparation, and customer vehicle retrieval.
- Wash or perform light cleaning of vehicles as needed.
- Monitor vehicle inventory locations and assist with vehicle staging.
- Assist Service Advisors and technicians with operational support tasks.
- Ensure vehicles are locked, secured, and handled according to dealership procedures.
- Inspect vehicles for visible damage and report concerns to management.
- Keep dealership grounds and service areas clean and presentable.
- Follow all dealership safety procedures and traffic guidelines.
- Support additional service department tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist team members.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous automotive, porter, valet, or lot attendant experience preferred but not required.
- On-the-job training provided for qualified candidates.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously throughout the workday.
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles for extended periods.
Work Environment
Work is performed in dealership service areas, parking lots, and outdoor environments with frequent vehicle movement, varying weather conditions, noise, and fast-paced activity.
