SUMMARY:

Oversee the daily operations of a family-style residential setting for individuals with developmental disabilities. Collaborate closely with both residents and staff to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality care and support services, while maintaining full compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are central to the role, with additional tasks assigned as needed:

  • Promote Resident Quality of Life Support residents in achieving a fulfilling lifestyle by honoring their choices in personal goals, daily routines, and possessions.
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Plans Create and execute Implementation Plans aligned with each resident’s Person-Centered Plan to help achieve their unique goals and outcomes.
  • Coordinate Medical Care Ensure residents receive appropriate medical attention, including annual physical and dental exams.
  • Maintain Communication Channels Serve as a liaison between residents, families, professionals, and the broader community to foster strong relationships and continuity of care.
  • Lead and Support Staff Supervise, train, and cultivate teamwork among group home staff. Assign duties to ensure smooth operations and optimal resident care.
  • Provide Coverage as Needed Step in to cover shifts when staff are unavailable, ensuring uninterrupted support for residents.
  • Assist with Transportation Accompany residents to appointments, events, and errands as required.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance Uphold standards set by LTRC, Residential Habilitation, and agency policies. Submit required documentation promptly via iConnect and Paylocity.
  • Manage Financial Integrity Oversee group home budgets and residents’ personal finances, adhering to Representative Payee procedures including wage and purchase reporting.
  • Submit Financial Reports Provide residents’ financial records to the COO by the 5th of each month.
  • Maintain Accurate Records Keep timely, legible documentation, including weekly staff schedules and other operational records.
  • Prepare for Audits and Meetings Participate in monthly APD and licensing audits, as well as group home manager meetings.
  • Ensure Home Cleanliness and Maintenance Collaborate with maintenance staff to uphold cleanliness and upkeep of the group home and its facilities.
  • Maintain Group Home Vehicle Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of the group home van to ensure safe and reliable transportation.
  • Coordinate Grocery Shopping Shop for groceries according to approved menus to meet residents’ nutritional needs.
  • Manage Medication System Administer and store medications in compliance with APD standards and 65G-7 F.A.C., using the Quickmar system.
  • Implement CMS Standards Ensure adherence to CMS policies and procedures throughout the home’s operations.
  • Perform Additional Duties Carry out other responsibilities as assigned to support the overall mission and effectiveness of the group home.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides direct supervision to group home staff, ensuring all management practices align with organizational policies and relevant legal standards. Key responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees; overseeing training and development; assigning and coordinating daily tasks; evaluating staff performance; implementing recognition and corrective actions as needed; and effectively managing employee concerns and workplace issues to maintain a positive and productive environment.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be able to pass Level 2 fingerprint background check, (https://info.flclearinghouse.com), Dept. of Children and Families abuse registry check, and local law enforcement check, Affidavit of Good Moral Character.
  • Must pass a drug screen.
  • Must be 21 with a valid driver's license, good driving record and proof of vehicle insurance and registration with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from an accredited college, major in nursing, education or a social, behavioral or rehabilitative science + 2 years’ experience. Experience in one of the previously mentioned fields shall substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • CPR, First Aid, Core Competencies, Zero Tolerance, HIV, and HIPAA certifications will be required.
  • Medication Administration training and validation are also required.
  • Employer will provide all training required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, explosives, risk of radiation, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Home may also include pets.

WORK SCHEDULE: Non-exempt, 40 hours per week, flexible to include days, nights weekends as needed. Must be available to staff and clients in emergency situations at any time.

Salary $20.48 per hour
