Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Mortgage Property Tax Specialist at our Plano, TX location.

Description:

Ensure that real estate taxes for loans in the mortgage servicing portfolio are paid in a timely manner, either through the escrow account or paid by borrower (NESC).

Responsibilities:

  • Process property tax payments, including ensuring timely payment of real estate taxes prior to delinquency and discount deadlines.
  • Maintain and store all property tax batches, including checks, tax reports, and transmittals.
  • Monitor loan portfolios to ensure property taxes remain current, maintaining a 100% reconciliation rate with the property tax vendor.
  • Review and interpret mortgage documents, escrow accounts, and system-generated reports.
  • Utilize tax vendor to process Customer Service Requests (CSRs), including contract updates such as parcel number changes. Perform audit comparisons between MSP system data and tax vendor data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Remain vigilant for suspicious activity, including potential fraud or money laundering, and report concerns promptly to the BSA department.
  • Update servicing systems with accurate and timely tax-related data.
  • Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties, including maintaining files (simple to complex), researching information, processing departmental documents, and recording results in tracking systems.
  • Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
  • Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Preferred:

  • At least 2-4 years related experience in Mortgage Servicing (taxing authority, mortgage loan processing/closing, accounts payable, accounting clerk, or banking clerk experience or similar roles may be acceptable) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage lending practices.
  • Ability to recognize, read and understand compliance documents.
  • Determination to resolve items correctly/timely, inquisitive, problem-solver, have analytical mind-set, and organizational skills
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills. Great attitude and customer service skills while staying focused on the task.

Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.

Working Conditions

The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Employees may spend extended periods sitting or standing, using hands to operate computers or other equipment, and reaching for work-related tasks. Regular walking may be required, along with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing. The role may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
