Position Description:
Airoom is Chicagoland's largest design-build remodeling firm. We are seeking a skilled and versatile Field Technician to support our residential remodeling projects and assist with showroom and office construction as needed.

This hands-on position is ideal for an experienced remodeling professional who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys working across multiple trades, and is committed to delivering exceptional results for homeowners.

Position Summary

The Field Technician is primarily responsible for performing remodeling, installation, repair, and finish work on residential projects.. This role requires expertise across multiple trades, including cabinetry installation, carpentry, drywall, tile, flooring, painting, and light plumbing and electrical work.

In addition to residential project work, the Field Technician will assist with the construction, remodeling, and maintenance of showroom displays and office improvements at Airoom's Lincolnwood and Hinsdale locations.

Job Description

  • Travel to residential project sites throughout the Chicagoland area.
  • Perform remodeling, repair, installation, punch-list, and warranty work on active projects.
  • Install custom cabinetry, vanities, built-ins, and architectural millwork.
  • Perform rough and finish carpentry, including framing, trim, molding, doors, and related finishes.
  • Install tile, hardwood flooring, luxury vinyl flooring, and other finish materials.
  • Complete drywall installation, repairs, patching, and finishing.
  • Perform painting and touch-up work as required.
  • Execute light plumbing and electrical tasks associated with remodeling projects.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and installation instructions.
  • Maintain a professional presence while working in occupied homes.
  • Coordinate with project managers, designers, subcontractors, and homeowners to ensure project success.
  • Build, remodel, and maintain kitchen, bathroom, and custom millwork displays within Airoom's design showrooms.
  • Assist with office renovations, facility improvements, and maintenance projects.
  • Install display cabinetry, countertops, fixtures, trim, and finish materials.
  • Maintain showroom displays to ensure they reflect Airoom's quality standards and current design offerings.
Qualifications

  • Proven experience in residential and light commercial remodeling with strong trade knowledge and hands-on construction expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience across multiple trades, including rough and finish carpentry, cabinetry installation, drywall, tile, flooring, painting, and other interior finish work.
  • Extensive cabinetry and millwork installation experience preferred.
  • Ability to execute high-quality remodeling, showroom display construction, and office build-out projects.
  • Possess a complete set of professional-grade hand and power tools required to perform the job effectively.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and proven track record of quality workmanship.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining productivity and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, designers, showroom staff, homeowners, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, installation instructions, and product documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional appearance and demeanor when working in clients' homes.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

This position will begin as an independent subcontractor role. Based on performance, work quality, reliability, and business needs, there is an opportunity to transition to a full-time employee position after approximately 6 to 9 months.
