Facilities Technician II

The Facilities Technician is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of facility systems within a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) environment. This role ensures facility equipment and utilities operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with GMP, FDA, OSHA, and company requirements. Technicians support manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and office operations by maintaining critical systems including HVAC, compressed air, purified water, boilers, electrical systems, and building infrastructure.
Responsibilities

  • Independently troubleshoot facility and utility equipment issues.

  • Perform corrective maintenance on HVAC, boilers, chillers, air compressors, pumps, water systems, and electrical distribution systems.

  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.

  • Assist with equipment qualifications, commissioning, and validation support activities.

  • Coordinate assigned maintenance projects and vendor activities.

  • Review maintenance metrics and identify reliability improvement opportunities.

  • Support deviation investigations and CAPA implementation related to facility systems.

  • Participate in energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.

  • Train and mentor Facilities Technician I personnel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate degree or technical certification preferred.

  • 3-5 years of facilities maintenance experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Experience using CMMS software.

  • Knowledge of GMP documentation requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of:

    • HVAC systems

    • Building Management Systems (BMS)

    • Electrical distribution systems

    • Compressed air systems

    • Boiler and steam systems

    • Water purification systems
