About the Role:

The Nursing LPN Charge Nurse plays a critical leadership role in delivering high-quality patient care within a healthcare facility. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursing unit, ensuring that all patients receive compassionate, efficient, and safe care. The Charge Nurse coordinates nursing staff assignments, monitors patient progress, and acts as a liaison between nursing personnel, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. This role requires strong clinical expertise combined with excellent organizational and communication skills to manage both patient care and team dynamics effectively. Ultimately, the Charge Nurse ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and promotes a positive environment that supports patient recovery and staff development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience in a relevant healthcare setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate nursing staff effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing principles, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Charge Nurse or in a supervisory nursing role.
  • Advanced certifications such as IV Therapy, Wound Care, or Medication Administration.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare technology.
  • Completion of continuing education courses related to leadership or nursing management.
  • Experience in specialized clinical areas such as geriatrics, rehabilitation, or acute care.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff on the unit during assigned shifts to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, and provide direct nursing care as needed, including administering medications and treatments.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers while maintaining accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to nursing staff, fostering professional development and adherence to best practices.
  • Respond promptly to patient emergencies and unexpected situations, ensuring appropriate interventions are executed.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper functioning.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of nursing policies and procedures.
