Job Description

Test Engineer (Manual and Automation)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Test Engineer (Manual and Automation) based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale healthcare technology systems supporting critical government services.
You will help ensure the quality, security, reliability, and usability of complex applications through both manual and automated testing.
Working within an Agile environment, you will collaborate with development and testing teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
Your work will span functional, regression, API, performance, security, and usability testing activities.
You will design and execute test scripts, document defects, analyze results, and help strengthen end-to-end testing practices.
The position is fully remote and suited to a detail-oriented engineer who can work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
It also provides opportunities to expand your automation, Agile, and emerging AI-assisted testing capabilities.

Accountabilities
  • Plan, construct, maintain, and execute manual and automated test scripts covering application functionality, APIs, regression scenarios, security, performance, and usability.
  • Apply established testing standards, methodologies, and business requirements to develop effective test approaches and meet team objectives.
  • Perform end-to-end testing across software releases, documenting results clearly and ensuring testing evidence is accurate and accessible.
  • Track, document, investigate, and communicate defects using established defect-management and testing tools.
  • Execute assigned testing activities within defined schedules and contribute to meeting committed delivery milestones.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, sprint activities, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop functional test scripts using Java and JavaScript, with opportunities to apply Python where appropriate.
  • Support test automation frameworks, test suite configuration, and continuous testing activities using tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.
  • Perform regression and technical test execution activities while monitoring, reporting, and documenting issues throughout the testing lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to identify quality risks, clarify requirements, and improve testing effectiveness.
  • Support API and data-focused testing, including work with REST APIs and NoSQL databases where applicable.
  • Use emerging AI-assisted development and testing tools to accelerate test-case creation and automation while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively, adapting to changing requirements and delivering high-quality work under established deadlines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; candidates should clearly identify their degree and graduation information on their résumé.
  • At least 3 years of experience with end-to-end Agile manual and automated software testing, including technical test execution, test management, defect reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing test scripts using Java and JavaScript; Python experience is a plus.
  • Experience with testing administration and defect-management tools, including Rational, CQ, and JIRA.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases and software testing across modern application environments.
  • Strong understanding of functional testing, regression testing, automation, API testing, and software quality practices.
  • Experience supporting continuous testing and working with tools such as Jenkins and GitHub for test suite or data configuration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document test results, defects, and recommendations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and adherence to technical specifications and established quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of an Agile team.
  • Strong multitasking, time-management, and problem-solving abilities, particularly in environments with changing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment and consistently deliver work on schedule.
  • Familiarity with Gatling, Scala, and REST API testing is preferred.
  • Experience using AI-assisted coding or testing tools for test-case creation and automation is preferred.
  • Agile certifications such as SAFe Practitioner, SAFe Agilist, or CSM are beneficial but not required.
  • Candidates must have established U.S. residency for at least 3 of the previous 5 years.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust.
  • U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Benefits

  • Remote work: Fully remote position with no required travel.
  • Flexible schedule: Full-flex work options designed to support work-life balance and personal priorities.
  • Healthcare: Multiple medical plan options, including plans with Health Savings Accounts, plus dental and vision coverage.
