Senior Accountant, Accounts Receivable

Government Contract Accountant Accounts Receivable

The Government Contract Accountant Accounts Receivable will be responsible for the reviewing billable charges (including AP invoices and travel expenses) in compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for all contract types. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge in GAAP, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and user experience in Oracle and Concur.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare invoices for all types of government contracts to include: Cost reimbursable, time and material, progress payments, and firm fixed price
  • Prepare and issue invoices in accordance with contract terms and compliance with FAR
  • Obtain required approvals from project managers per contractual terms
  • Able to identify unallowable costs according to government rules and/or contractual terms
  • Review government travel from subrecipients for FAR & travel policy compliance
  • Ensure proper coding of GL/department/project billable codes in NetSuite
  • Provide timely reports for project managers (PM) and the project management organization (PMO)
  • Ensure all collections are current. Monitor AR aging and perform AR reconciliation
  • Work closely with stakeholders to resolve issues related to billing and payment of invoices/bills
  • Submit invoices electronically per customer requirements and system
  • Support month end close, general ledger accounting including account reconciliations and journal entry posting
  • AR file maintenance
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures to help improve efficiencies
  • Ability to perform moderately complex accounting tasks/analysis, categorize data for reporting and audit purpose
  • Apply general knowledge of accounting/government policies and procedures when responding to written and verbal inquiries from stakeholders
  • Support Audits for allowable and unallowable costs
  • Support government property tracking

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • S. degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant business experience.
  • Minimum of5 years of experience in an accounting or finance environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to additional financial and accounting systems (e.g., Concur, Oracle).
  • Knowledge of direct and indirect costs, including the identification of allowable and unallowable expenses, particularly related to travel compliance.
  • Working knowledge of government grants and/or government contracts is preferred.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Public company experience and familiarity with related accounting processes are strongly preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn new information, systems, and technologies.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with operations teams and non-accounting stakeholders while managing complex accounting, project, and organizational codes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, plan work activities, and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, multidisciplinary environment.

Job Details:

Salary Range: $81,382.37 - $105,961.39

*We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individuals qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
