Technologist Assistant Lead

Department: MRI and CT

Location: Gate Parkway, Jacksonville FL
Reports To: Center Manager

Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM

Position Summary

The Technologist Assistant Lead is responsible for leading the Technologist Assistant (TA) team while supporting the daily operations of the MRI and CT departments. This position ensures efficient patient flow, provides hands-on leadership, oversees TA training and competency, and serves as a resource for both staff and technologists. The Technologist Assistant Lead works closely with leadership to maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Staff Development
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support for all Technologist Assistants.
  • Coordinate daily TA assignments to ensure adequate coverage throughout MRI and CT.
  • Train, onboard, and mentor all new Technologist Assistants.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and competency assessments to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Assist leadership with performance feedback, scheduling needs, and workflow concerns.
  • Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
Department Operations
  • Monitor the daily MRI and CT schedules to help maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and adjust TA assignments as patient volume changes.
  • Assist with order discrepancies and work with scheduling, front office, and technologists to resolve issues before they impact patient care.
  • Ensure patients are prepared and ready for their scheduled exams.
  • Assist with patient transport, staging, room turnover, and patient preparation during high-volume periods.
  • Serve as the primary resource for the TA team throughout the day.
Clinical Support
  • Perform IV starts within scope of practice.
  • Assist Technologist Assistants with IV starts and patient preparation when needed.
  • Provide hands-on support during busy periods to keep patient flow moving.
  • Ensure crash carts are checked, stocked, and maintained according to policy.
  • Monitor emergency equipment and supplies to ensure readiness.
Emergency Preparedness
  • Train all Technologist Assistants on emergency procedures and department response protocols.
  • Conduct ongoing education and competency training for emergency situations.
  • Ensure TAs understand their role during medical emergencies until a technologist, radiologist, or EMS assumes patient care.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and maintain emergency readiness for the department.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure Technologist Assistants follow departmental policies, MRI safety standards, and workflow expectations.
  • Promote patient safety and excellent customer service.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives that improve efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • EMT certification required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience starting IVs.
  • Minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced outpatient imaging environment.
Preferred.
  • Experience in Radiology, MRI, CT, Emergency Department, or outpatient imaging.
  • Experience with imaging workflows, patient scheduling, and electronic medical records.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to assist with patient movement and transport.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations.
