The Site
Work runs out of Slave Lake and across the Lesser Slave Lake region. You are loading at gravel pits under excavators and loaders, hauling to road builds, lease pads and stockpiles, and dumping where dozers and graders are working around you. The run is pit and lease road, conditions change with the season, and the radio protocol and right of way rules are posted. Most days you are home at night.
What You'll Do
  • Operate a wiggle wagon end dump combination hauling gravel, sand, aggregate and overburden
  • Load at the pit under excavators and loaders, and follow spotter direction
  • Run designated routes at posted speeds, holding safe following distance and radio protocol
  • Back, position and dump at road builds and stockpiles, watching soft edges and overhead lines
  • Couple and uncouple trailers, connect air and electrical lines, and secure gates, hoists and tarps
  • Complete circle checks and pre-trip and post-trip inspections before the unit moves
  • Report soft spots, washouts and road hazards, and take part in toolbox talks
What You Bring
  • Verifiable seat time on end dump haul in aggregate, forestry or heavy civil work
  • Confident backing, spotting and dumping on uneven ground and in tight dumps
  • Valid Class 5 licence and reliable transportation to the yard and to site
  • CSTS or equivalent and Standard First Aid, or willing to get them before start
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and work outdoors through the season
  • Living in the Slave Lake area
Nice to Have
  • Time hauling on forestry and oilfield lease roads in the Lesser Slave Lake region
  • Class 1 with air brakes, or rock truck, gravel truck or loader seat time
  • H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level 2, and winter haul experience
Why Operators Take This Job
The range is posted at $29.00 to $40.00 and where you land in it comes down to your seat time and your abstract, not a number talked down after the interview. The work is booked through the season, not a three week call out that leaves you on the phone in September. Sites are in and around Slave Lake, so you are home most nights and your money is not going to rooms and meals.
Pay is a gross hourly rate before deductions.
What We Offer
  • $29.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
  • Overtime available based on operational requirements
  • Life insurance plus AD&D with critical illness and cancer coverage
  • Extended health: drugs, hospital, vision, and paramedical including mental health
  • Dental coverage, including orthodontic coverage for children
  • Travel insurance, plus ongoing training and career development support
