Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer (Distribution) to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and oversight to our Distribution Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, Distribution, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality distribution designs, estimates, and engineering packages that are accurate, constructable, and completed on schedule.

This role plays a key part in supporting project success by reviewing and authenticating engineering deliverables, resolving technical challenges, mentoring team members, and collaborating with project managers, utilities, customers, and consultants throughout all phases of project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, review, and authenticate overhead and underground distribution designs, calculations, estimates, and engineering deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to engineers, designers, and technical staff.
  • Prepare and review project estimates, proposals, schedules, and material take-offs.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including pole line analysis and conductor pulling calculations.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, utility requirements, and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve design-related issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Obtain required permits, approvals, agreements, and utility authorizations.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and customer consultations.
  • Support business development activities by contributing to proposals and project planning.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology Diploma.
  • Registered P.Eng. or PL.Eng. with APEGA.

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on overhead and underground distribution systems.
  • Extensive experience in distribution design, cost estimating, and utility or industrial projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, designs, and estimates simultaneously.


Skills & Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution design, construction practices, codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Ability to create, review, and authenticate engineering drawings and design packages.
  • Experience developing estimates from drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
