JOB SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician supports the daily operations of the onsite pharmacy at Hope Christian Health Center (HCHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, this role assists with the accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, inventory management, 340B program support, and customer service. The Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for patients and staff while supporting HCHC’s mission and values.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pharmacy Operations and Patient Support
- Process prescriptions and accurately enter patient information into pharmacy systems.
- Assist the Pharmacist in preparing, counting, packaging, labeling, and dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Process medical insurance claims and assist in resolving common claim rejections and billing issues.
- Provide courteous, patient-centered customer service, including answering general medication-related questions and assisting with prescription pick-up.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, including prescription processing, dispensing documentation, and inventory tracking.
- Maintain accurate separation, labeling, and storage of 340B and non-340B medication inventories.
- Support the handling, storage, and documentation of Schedule II controlled substances in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Operate and reconcile the cash register, ensuring accurate and secure handling of cash and other transactions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
340B Program and Compliance
- Assist with inventory tracking, documentation, and record-keeping to support compliance with the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
- Support preparation of documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews as directed by the Pharmacist.
- Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and organizational policies, including FQHC and pharmacy regulations.
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with the Pharmacist and clinical teams to support safe and effective medication management.
- Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives as directed.

- Always maintains the confidentiality of Hope Christian Health Center finances and patient-related information.
- Complies with HIPAA and protects patient information.
- The Pharmacy Technician ensures compliance with all 19 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program Requirements.
- The Pharmacy Technician is also expected to actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice team efforts emphasizing the importance of the individual patient and putting the patient’s needs first.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in an FQHC or 340B environment - preferred
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations, inventory management, and regulatory compliance - required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - required
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to handle cash transactions and maintain accurate records - required
- Nevada State Pharmacy Technician license - required
- National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) – preferred
- Fluency in Spanish - required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent - required
- Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program – preferred

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Frequent sitting. Manual dexterity. Good reading eyesight and vision for close work. Ability to communicate by speaking and hearing in person or on the phone. Ability to travel to various locations.
