Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Yard Specialist is responsible for supporting daily yard operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves safely loading and unloading trucks, moving and staging heavy material, operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment, and maintaining an organized yard to support production and shipping activities. The Yard Inventory Specialist works closely with manufacturing, and warehouse teams to ensure equipment, materials, and finished products are properly handled and delivered on schedule.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks safely and efficiently.
· Move, stage, and organize parts, and materials throughout the yard and facility.
· Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
· Pull, position, and transport heavy equipment using appropriate tools and equipment.
· Perform routine inspections of forklifts and yard equipment and report maintenance needs.
· Assist with inventory control, material tracking, material issuing, material receiving, material identification and labeling, and shipment verification.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
· Support production, shipping, and receiving operations as needed.
· Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, receiving, or yard operations environment preferred.
· Forklift experience required; certification preferred.
· Ability to safely handle and move large, heavy equipment and materials.
· Strong attention to safety and detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to perform physically demanding work, including frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
