Job Description
About the Role:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and components to meet project specifications and industry standards. This role requires overseeing complex engineering projects from concept through to production, ensuring technical accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety regulations. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions. A key outcome of this position is to drive continuous improvement in product performance and reliability while managing timelines and resources effectively. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to strategic planning to support the company’s long-term engineering goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering design and development.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, aerospace, automotive, or energy sectors.
- Experience with engineering analysis tools such as FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and agile project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze mechanical components and systems using CAD and simulation tools to meet functional and safety requirements.
- Lead project teams in the development and execution of engineering plans, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and root cause analysis to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimize product design for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support their professional development.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to incorporate best practices into engineering processes.
