Job Description

Patient Safety Clinical Specialist

  • Flexible 4-hour schedule is possible.
  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
    • • The Patient Safety Clinical Specialist manages, organizes, coordinates, supports and participates in clinical quality performance measurement and improvement activities. Primary functions are accomplished through a combination of clinical knowledge and experience with performance improvement tools and Evidence Based Care standards. The focus of this position is to improve patient safety and culture of safety throughout the organization through utilization of quality tracking forms, Failure Mode effect analysis and other areas of safety concern. Responsible for improving clinical outcomes through coaching frontline staff, gather and sharing best practices, creating content for Patient Safety workgroups, sharing data, and monitoring effectiveness of projects.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • Three (3) years’ experience in quality management or a professional clinical setting required (Hospital experience preferred).
      • Evidence of strong computer skills preferred.
      • Experience with group leadership and facilitation preferred.
    • Education and Training:
      • Bachelor’s Degree required.
      • RN, MD or other clinical health care degree required.
      • Lean Six Sigma or other PI Methodology experience preferred.
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality preferred.
      • RN License - Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts. (Preferred)
    • Other Requirements:
      • Strong clinical knowledge and experience.
      • Possesses basic understanding of a hospital medical record including an electronic medical record (EMR).
      • Has experience with computers: Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, etc.
      • Establishes and maintains effective relationships.
      • Works independently to organize and prioritize projects, departments, and committees.
      • Works with confidential information with a knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws required.
      • Demonstrates excellent presentation skills utilizing available formats (person-to-person, databoards, PowerPoint, etc.)
      • Demonstrates and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
      • Maintains excellent listening, interpersonal, written, oral, and presentation skills.
      • Demonstrates creative problem-solving skills.
      • Maintains high self-motivation and direction.
      • Executes tasks and deadlines while under pressure in an effective manner.
      • Demonstrates understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
      • Demonstrates strong customer service orientation.
