Employment Type: Full-time
Hourly Wage: $24 - $25 based on experience
Work Schedule: On site, M-F (9:00-5:30)
Reports to: Operations Manger
The Prepress Associate is responsible for preparing digital files for printing. The Prepress Associate works closely with the project coordinators and the production teams to ensure accuracy and consistency across all printed materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
File Preparation: Prepare digital files for production, including formatting, color matching, paneling and die cut set-up. Adjust existing client files to match job specifications.
Proofing: Create proofs and mockups for client approval, ensuring all specifications are accurate and elements are correctly positioned and aligned.
Design: Design print collaterals; small and large format.
Color Management: Maintain color accuracy across different printing processes and substrates.
Skills in motion graphics for digital displays are an asset.
Quality Control: Check files for errors, including color and resolution issues, font and image embedding, and proper file formats.
Workflow Management: Use prepress software and tools to streamline the production process and ensure timely delivery of projects.
Project Management: Responsible for their own projects from start to finish and making sure all collaterals are accounted for. All proofs/mockups are updated with correct specifications.
Collaboration: Work closely with project coordinators and production staff to resolve any issues and ensure client specifications are met.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a prepress role or similar position in the printing industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and other prepress software (e.g., Pitstop, Quite Impose). Knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Premier an asset.
Knowledge: Understanding of different printing processes (offset, digital, large format, textile print and sublimation) and materials.
Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail, with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to file preparation and printing.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with team members and clients.
Understanding of project scope and how it relates to other trades.
Above average math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, resourcefully with minimal oversight
Demonstrated experience in developing strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
Education: A degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Printing Technology, or a related field is preferred.
