About This Position
Department: Printing Title: Ink Technician Reports to: Printing Supervisor Reporting to the Printing Supervisor/Manager your primary responsibility is to Schedule, order, and dispense inks in order to fill orders per docket specifications. Key Accountabilities: Dispenses all ink orders: specialty orders, raw materials and colour matching to orders on a timely basis.Mixes all inks according to their required formulasMonitors ink inventory, raw materials, ink return draw-downs and re-work inventory.Work directly with Press Operators and Sales department to match customers requirementsProcess Alcohol recyclingFollow all Food Safety, product quality and Health and Safety Guidelines as laid out in the Departmental Summary.Comply with all quality control standards and completes all checklistsAssist with all other work that needs to be completed Duties:Meets specifications of customers using X-Rite and Pantone booth.Test inks for PH and viscosity to ensure that we are meeting quality standards.Troubleshoot and correct in problems as they occur on printing presses.Responsible for Hazardous Waste Drum collection, labeling and satellite accumulation points.Performs a semi-annual maintenance of the ink dispenser as well as on an as-needed basis.Maintains all records and formulation information.Follow all safety rules, regulation and requirements Must haves: Strong Mechanical aptitude Good visual acuity; cannot be colour blindShift work required, flexiblePhysically able to perform all aspects of the job; be on your feet entire shift, bending, reaching , walking, lifting up to 50lbs in some cases to shoulder height or above repetitively.Excellent English communication skills, reading, writing and speaking , grade 12 or equivalent Ability to follow directions, written or spokenComputer and organizational skills.Must be able to work independently or in team. Assets: Desire to learnStrong teamwork ethic Positive, Can-do attitude Environment: Manufacturing and production plant Breaks are 2 X 10 min paid breaks and 1 X 30 min unpaid. Breaks to be determined by SupervisorIn house print shop “I’m Responsible”
