About This Position

JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for CHG Group, Inc. (CHGi), the U.S. headquarters of Chemring Group PLC, provides strategic leadership and financial management of the U.S. Finance function. The CFO is a key member of the CHGi Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for leading all aspects of the accounting and financial planning and analysis cycle and working closely with the Chemring Group PLC finance team. The CFO is also responsible for supporting the CHGi Finance teams with continuous improvement initiatives driving best practices, including new business process creation and streamlining existing business processes through application of Lean principles and tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and direction to ensure CHGi's long-term financial wellbeing and growth
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions for the U.S. Organization
  • Ensure the credibility of the Finance function by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts
  • Responsible for all cash management, budgeting and financial reporting
  • Oversee the creation of annual organizational budgets, including cash flow and long-range financial projections for the U.S.
  • Serve as a member of the CHGi Board of Directors and the Chemring Group PLC Executive Committee
  • Establish financial targets and provide input into the development of operational targets; monitor financial performance and recommend and facilitate adjustments to ensure satisfactory outcomes for the organization
  • Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fund
  • Responsible via the CHGi Finance Team for monthly closing of books and reporting results, as well as preparation of quarterly/semi-annual/annual financial reporting packages
  • Extensive interface with business and executive management teams, both locally and across other business units
  • Keep the CHGi Board of Directors informed on pertinent financial matters
  • Manage Corporate Insurance policies and brokers
  • Direct interface with internal and external auditors, and US banking providers
  • Lead the annual business planning process, including strategy and budget, for CHGi
  • Ensure adequate cash management to meet the needs of the U.S. Organization
  • Tax management; point of contact with tax advisors, develop/coordinate strategic initiatives to reduce taxes
  • In conjunction with CHGi HR, provide management and oversight of the U.S. 401(k) program
  • Responsible for internal controls and compliance with GAAP, IFRS, CAS, and federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing continuous improvement projects for the Finance teams across CHG acting as coach, mentor, trainer and advocate for various change initiatives
  • Responsible for facilitating Lean training and business process improvement teams and coordination of improvement projects
  • Work with Finance and other BU leadership to ensure that proposed projects match the corporate strategy and are well understood

  • Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Ensure the Group ethos of all employees going home safely at the end of their working day is adhered to

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Direct leadership of the CHGi Finance Team
  • Dotted line leadership of U.S. Business Unit Finance Leaders (VP/CFO level)

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related business discipline required
  • Master's degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 15 years' pertinent Finance experience required
  • A minimum of 10 years' management experience required
  • Experience in government contracting required; experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions preferred

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
  • Knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage people resources, workload, and deadlines to ensure timely execution of project deliverables
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Experience in strategic and operational planning and execution
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management
  • Facilitation knowledge/skills/experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of finance processes and how they relate to best business practices
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Project management planning, tracking, and adjustment

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer. Travel - 25%.
