About This Position

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Comptroller’s Office Manager, the Accounts Payable/Finance Clerk I, will fulfill the duties as outlined below. Acounts Payable / Finance Clerk I is classified as non-exempt from theovertime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Reviews the accuracy of Purchasing Card (P-Card) transaction allocations and all supporting documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with Seminole County’s P-Card Administrative Code and County Manager’s P-Card Policy.
  • Ensures financial transactions are charged to the proper departmental business units/costcenters.
  • Determines the accuracy of invoices and eligibility for payment, when applicable.
  • Performs pre-audit functionsof supplier/vendor invoices; verifies prices based on approved contracts, when applicable.
  • Completes payment by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices, when applicable.
  • Inputs and posts various accounting and financial transactions, when applicable.
  • Reviews and posts journal entry adjustments, when applicable.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature/level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Required experience: Minimum 2 years with bookkeeping or accounting experience, including Accounts Payable or accounts receivable experience
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate(G.E.D.)
  • One year of clerical experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s license.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to understand Florida regulations, policies and procedures governing work unit.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with officials fellow employees, Team Leaders, Managers, Directors, County staff and the public.
  • Skilled in high level attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex instructions.
  • Ability to analyze financial data.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines, when necessary.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
  • Manual Dexterity, Talking, Hearing, Repetitivemotions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
VISUAL ACUITY:
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughnessof the work assigned.
