We started in Chicago in November 1991 as a small bakery supplying artisan breads. Today we’re a neighborhood gathering spot serving made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner, whether you dine in, grab it to go, or order catering. Our kitchens are real kitchens. We chop over 40 kinds of fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables every day, scramble eggs to order over open flames, hand-toss salads, and keep the ovens going all day long. About the Role
As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll lead the cafe during your shift and create an environment built around great guest experiences. You’ll guide and support the team according to company policies and procedures, open or close the restaurant, manage cash throughout the shift, and handle key administrative tasks like reporting, inventory, and ordering. You’ll also help promote company initiatives, work with outside vendors and sales programs, and respond to guest needs with a positive, friendly attitude.
What You’ll Do
• Lead the team to meet daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual labor and cost-of-sales goals
• Deliver outstanding guest service and resolve guest concerns
• Run food to tables and catering guests during peak hours
• Open the restaurant, including equipment start-up and opening procedures
• Close the restaurant, including equipment shutdown, closing procedures, and end-of-night paperwork
• Ensure Master Prep and production sheets are completed and executed
• Take part in inventory, including counts, ordering, receiving, and proper storage of product
• Support catering, including order taking, production, delivery, and problem resolution
• Manage cash and make safe and bank deposits following cash deposit procedures, including armored car service
• Ensure team members receive required meal periods and rest breaks
• Uphold food safety and cleanliness standards
• Maintain your state Food Handler and/or ServSafe certification
• Perform other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
• High school diploma or equivalent
• State Food Handler card and/or ServSafe certification, as applicable
• At least 6 months of experience in Corner Bakery Cafe operations or a similar restaurant concept, with a track record of leading and executing operations
• Strong guest service and communication skills
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Ability to build and maintain vendor relationships
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and POS systems
