Technical Writer Intern – Sub-Assembly
Location: Manitowoc, WI
Timing: Summer 2027 Internship
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer Intern to support our Sub-Assembly team in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. This internship is ideal for a student interested in engineering, manufacturing, process improvement, and communicating technical information in a clear, user-friendly way.
In this role, you will help document and update standard work, support the maintenance of digital performance data, and assist in training team members on how to interpret key performance indicators. You will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while partnering closely with team leads and production employees.
Responsibilities
- Review and update team member standard work to reflect current processes and practices.
- Organize, revise, and maintain technical documentation to ensure it is accurate, clear, and easy to follow.
- Assist Team Lead 2 with updating digital data used to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Learn how operational data is collected, displayed, and used to support manufacturing performance.
- Help develop materials and provide support for training team leads and team members on interpreting digital KPI data.
- Collaborate with team leads, team members, and cross-functional partners to gather information and confirm process details.
- Identify opportunities to improve the clarity, consistency, and usability of standard work and digital data tools.
- Support additional Sub-Assembly projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering; other majors may be considered.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly to different audiences.
- Interest in manufacturing operations, process documentation, continuous improvement, or production data.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information accurately.
- Comfort working with digital tools, spreadsheets, and data.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members.
- A positive, adaptable approach to learning and supporting change.
