About This Position
Job Description Summary:
The SSMO (Subsistence Supply Management Office) Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the Subsistence Supply Management Office at Schofield Barracks, ensuring the effective supply and management of subsistence, rations, and other logistics support functions. This position requires a strong working knowledge of Army subsistence procedures, policies, and regulations. The SSMO Supervisor coordinates with military customers, internal teams, DLA-DS, local vendors and other SSMO locations to meet operational requirements and ensure compliance with the performance work statement (PWS) and company policies. The supervisor also provides technical guidance and oversight for supply management functions, including inventory control, storage, cataloging, and property utilization.
This position is essential for supporting the Army's sustainment and subsistence needs, ensuring that troops receive the necessary supplies in an efficient and compliant manner. The SSMO Supervisor will play a pivotal role in managing operations, leading the team, and coordinating efforts across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee supply subsistence management operations, primarily in support of administrative, DFAC, and field ration missions.
- Manage the requisition, receipt, storage, issuance, and inventory of operational rations, including Meals Ready to Eat (MRE), Unitized Group Rations (UGRs), Close Combat Assault Rations (CCAR), UHT Milk, Field Bread, Ice, Bottled Water, and Carbonated Beverages.
- Maintain, inspect and rotate stocks of operational rations to support Army dining facilities and military training needs.
- Oversee the disposal of expired or excess rations in compliance with Army regulations.
- Support Army dining facilities, U.S. Army National Guard, Reserve Components, and training requirements using the Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS) and the Subsistence Total Order Receipt Electronic System (STORES).
- Work with vendor contracts to ensure timely delivery and proper handling of subsistence supplies.
- Update the AFMIS installation master menu file and prepare field training menus (UGR-A, UGR-E, UGR-Heat and Serve, Line Item A’s) in accordance with directives.
- Coordinate with military units, vendors, and other stakeholders to meet operational needs for food and supplies.
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the SSMO, ensuring customer needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to SSMO staff, fostering professional growth and development.
- Ensure that employees are adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties according to established standards.
- Provide day-to-day technical and operational guidance to the team and support the overall performance of the office.
- Prepare and review reports, working instructions, and plans to support the execution of the Food Program Management Officer’s operational concept.
- Ensure compliance with Army regulations, performance work statements (PWS), and company policies related to supply chain management.
- Provide government oversight functions as coordinated by the Government Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), Government Accountable Officer, or Contracting Officer.
- Identify and resolve issues related to supply management, subsistence, and inventory functions.
- Make recommendations for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness based on industry standards, policies, and government regulations.
- Ensure continual improvements to processes, practices, and procedures to meet customer requirements.
General Duties:
- Supervise and manage the Subsistence Supply Management Office (SSMO) operations.
- Coordinate with military customers and vendors to manage the requisition, receipt, and issuance of subsistence and other supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all Army regulations and company policies in supply management processes.
- Lead and mentor staff, providing guidance and professional development.
- Prepare reports, working instructions, and plans based on operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory control and ensure the timely disposal of expired or excess rations.
- Implement and monitor continuous improvements to operational procedures and practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- Seven years of progressive professional work experience in Army sustainment, supply inventory management, or a related field, with a focus on working with military customers.
- Experience managing subsistence and supply operations, including the use of automated systems like AFMIS and STORERS.
- Preferred: Experience in managing a Subsistence Supply Management Office (SSMO) or equivalent military logistics operations.
- Must pass initial and random drug tests, and background investigations.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain a favorable background screen
- Ability to work overtime as required to meet operational demands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex logistics issues clearly and effectively.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, ensuring all deadlines and operational requirements are met.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound recommendations and implement solutions based on established guidelines and policies.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team in a high-demand environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel (Level 2/intermediate proficiency), as well as Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of Army logistics systems, including AFMIS, STORERS, and other related Automated Information Systems (AIS).
- Ability to effectively manage and track inventories, subsistence supplies, and ration schedules.
- Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and pallet jacks for warehouse tasks.
Work Schedule
- Standard Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed and adapt to support other job areas as operational requirements dictate.
