We are a growing utility locating company serving both public and private clients throughout Wisconsin, and we take pride in the quality, integrity, and professionalism of our team.
About the Role As a Private Utility Locator, you will be performing private utility locates throughout the state of Wisconsin. This is a field-based role that requires an experienced, self-sufficient professional who can work independently, think on their feet, and represent the company with pride every day.
Your primary duties will include:
- Conducting on-site investigations to identify the presence and location of underground utilities
- Using electromagnetic locating equipment and other tools to map utility lines
- Interpreting maps, blueprints, and utility records to determine the layout of underground infrastructure
- Marking the location of utilities with paint, flags, or other designated markers in accordance with industry standards and regulations
- Collaborating with managers, construction crews, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate utility identification and minimize excavation risks
- Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
- Maintaining accurate records of utility locates and completing required documentation
- Representing the company in a professional manner at all times
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience locating multiple utilities
- Clean driving record
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Honest, team-oriented, and professional
- Knowledge of utility infrastructure including water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications systems
- Familiarity with utility locating equipment and techniques such as electromagnetic locators
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret maps, blueprints, and utility records
- Ability to perform essential job functions under limited supervision with discretion and judgment in the field
- Valid driver's license
- Basic computer and internet skills
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs
- Availability to work after hours, occasional Saturdays, and on-call rotation
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and random checks throughout employment
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
